Recent arrest
[edit]I reverted this edit since the edit summary referenced WP:CRYSTALBALL incorrectly. To quote what that policy actually says:
It is appropriate to report discussion and arguments about the prospects for success of future proposals and projects or whether some development will occur, if discussion is properly referenced. It is not appropriate for editors to insert their own opinions or analyses.
The edit in question was summarizing analysis done by a writer for the Oregonian, and is acceptable to include (critical, actually, since otherwise coverage Dahl's arrest seems undue in an article about the company). VQuakr (talk) 04:44, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- That piece just seems way too editorial-y to me; just one guy's spitballing the day after on what might happen. But, we will modify as events unfold. --Esprqii (talk) 02:22, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- This article is about Dave's Killer Bread, the company. Dave Dahl's arrest has nothing to do with the company. I suggest creating a new article for Dave Dahl and relocate the arrest information to that article. Briansprojects (talk) 17:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- Briansprojects, you're responding to a stale thread, but it does seem to me like it's time to prune the arrest info in the article. Esprqii? VQuakr? I know the company changed his title after the arrest, but the details of the arrest likely don't need to be spelled in the article about the company, per WP:NOTNEWS. Dave Dahl is unlikely, however, to be notable on his own per WP:BIO and thus shouldn't have his own article. Valfontis (talk) 20:54, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- Until later arrests, a short bio of Dave was included on the packaging for every loaf of bread. His visibility in the company and product was greatly reduced following this incident, and some coverage of it is certainly due. The whole paragraph should be updated, though, now that enough time has passed to give perspective on what impact the arrest actually had on the company and its marketing. I agree that Dahl is unlikely notable enough to warrant a biography. VQuakr (talk) 04:38, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- That sounds reasonable. I probably won't have time to research this this week if anyone else would like to work on it. Valfontis (talk) 15:15, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

False advertising?
[edit]The page on Dave mentions not more than nine years in prison, but the bread package claims 15 years in prison. 2601:47:200:6C40:85E3:6BC0:BC48:6F92 (talk) 21:04, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- You get good time, in Washington state you get 1/3 off, also 15 years could be his combined sentences, either way, as much as we appreciate your opinion Karen, which is none, less than none, in fact you would have a chance of being appreciated if you kept your mouth shut, Dave is an inspiration and his story gives hope to people who feel like they have no other options, it might very well a person's own fault that they are where they are but there's a point where you feel you can't go back, like the only people who you can turn to is convincts because no one will give you the opportunity to prove you deserve a second chance to be able to prove yourself, in case I punctuated that wrong or whatever, that's 3 steps, if it makes sense then you know what I mean, if not then I hope it never does, but at the same time I hope you try to for the sake of those who do, I'm fresh out of incarceration, less than 24 hours of freedom and already I've had more than a handful of experiences that made me want to say fuck this, but that's what people assume we will do cause we have so many times before, so no matter what I can't give in, and in the end be content with proving it to myself even if I'm the only one I'll ever be able to prove it to. 166.199.8.11 (talk) 19:55, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

WP Standards - Press Release as Source?
[edit]Greetings Wikipedians,
I'm still an inexperienced WP editor, but I noted that the article in part reads like an ad. The reason is a press release from Flowers was used as a source not just for the sale of the business, but for a description of where the brand stands in relation to other brands (...the most popular, ...boasts one of the cleanest bread labels, et al). Since this article is currently a Wiki Education assignment I don't know if I should be editing it --??? MxBuster (talk) 12:42, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
